I’m usually not a fan of diamonds. I kind of hate that the jewelry industry decided a century ago that not only rings were required for engagement, but that they had to be diamonds. As a huge fan of color, I’ve always thought that ANY gemstone was far prettier than a diamond, which I find to be pretty basic.

But I guess it’s true what they say — when your biological clock starts ticking, you really start wanting things you never wanted before. And I found myself wanting a six carrot necklace.

The necklace, while definitely a statement piece, remained a totally frugal choice at under $5. I was astounded. I always hear things in songs about so many carrots being worth thousands and thousands of dollars. Who knew it was so affordable?

Putting on this necklace brought out a different side of me I wasn’t used to. I immediately felt more bad ass. More powerful. More in control. I wanted to ride on the back of a motorcycle into the dusky sunset, wearing leather leggings and no top… just this gorgeous necklace.
