We’ve come to the end of the first month of the year and about now is the time when new year’s resolutions begin to wane. Dry January is long forgotten, running shoes lay forlorn under your bed and that business plan is still stuck on point one of five. If this is you, you might be feeling a bit bereft that you have given up already, but this is where you need to change your mindset. Instead of thinking of it as a new year’s resolution, think of it as a change of how you think. If we have someone else doing a resolution with us, we are much more likely to stick to it. Whether you are looking to give up smoking, learn to play a musical instrument or eat healthily, you are much less likely to give up if someone else is in on it too. For example, you might cancel on going to the gym if it is just you and there is no one to discourage this, but if you know your friend is relying on you for company, you will just go. And no one ever regrets that gym session!

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself and just do what you can.
