Hemp vs CBD Gummies: Which One is Right for You?

by | Apr 29, 2024 | How To | 0 comments

In a world where wellness trends come and go, terms like “hemp” and “CBD” have stayed at the forefront as go-to natural remedies. And with consumption methods evolving, one of the sweetest and most convenient ways to get the benefits is through gummies. However, the distinction between hemp gummies and CBD gummies might seem as hazy as the forthcoming benefits are tempting.

In this deep-dive comparison, we’ll chew through the differences between hemp vs CBD gummies in taste, legality, and health benefits. We aim to help you understand which gummy variant may best satisfy your wellness cravings.

The Key Ingredients

It’s all about the ingredients! Whether you opt for hemp gummies or CBD gummies, both will contain either Hemp seed oil or Cannabidiol. But it’s essential to discern the difference.

Hemp Gummies

Hemp gummies derive their CBD from the seed of the cannabis sativa plant, which is rich in nutrients and fatty acids. Hemp seeds do not contain THC (the psychoactive component of cannabis). This is a crucial distinction when evaluating the legal and health components of these edibles.

CBD Gummies

On the other hand, CBD gummies contain cannabidiol extracted from the flowers of the hemp plant. This compound is known for its various therapeutic properties without the high. Yet it contains a minimal amount of THC according to legal standards.

The Taste Test

Some claim that CBD gummies offer a more refined flavor, while others prefer the earthiness of hemp gummies. Taste is subjective, and what’s delightful to one palate may not be to another. It’s advised to sample both to find which you enjoy more.

Hemp Gummies

Hemp gummies, characterized by their slightly nutty and plant-like flavor, might not appeal to everyone initially, requiring a bit of an acquired taste. These gummies possess a texture that closely mimics that of traditional gummy bears, offering a familiar chewy experience. This unique combination of taste and texture makes hemp gummies a distinctive choice for those exploring the world of hemp-based products.

CBD Gummies

CBD gummies, known for their diverse flavor profiles, offer a broad spectrum of taste options that cater to various palates. From the tangy zest of citrus fruits to the lush sweetness of ripe strawberries, these gummies are meticulously crafted. This is done not only to provide a delightful taste experience but also to effectively mask the hemp’s natural earthiness, making them an appealing choice for those seeking the benefits of CBD without the traditional hemp flavor.

Legalities and Regulations

Navigating the legal landscape can be as daunting as understanding the health implications, which is why many patients seek guidance from a medicinal cannabis clinic. The status of hemp and cannabinoid products is a blend of national and local regulations that need to be considered.

Hemp Gummies

Hemp, a type of Cannabis sativa, is federally legal in the US if it has under 0.3% THC, marijuana’s psychoactive element. This rule means hemp products like gummies can be sold and used in most states without a doctor’s prescription. Thus, consumers can access these products for their potential health benefits more easily, avoiding the complex laws tied to higher THC cannabis products.

CBD Gummies

The legality of CBD varies depending on its source and THC content. Federally, CBD derived from hemp with less than 0.3% THC is legal under the Farm Bill, which differentiates hemp from marijuana based on THC levels.

State laws differ greatly, though, making the situation complex. While CBD is legal federally, some states have stricter rules, treating CBD with high THC as a controlled substance unless prescribed. Therefore, both consumers and retailers need to understand federal and state laws to stay compliant.

The Health Debate

Both hemp and CBD gummies are celebrated for their potential health benefits, such as easing anxiety, reducing pain, and aiding better sleep. However, the spectrum of benefits might differ, so it’s time to break it down.

Hemp Gummies

These gummies are frequently consumed not just for their potential health benefits but more so for their impressive nutritional profile. Rich in essential fatty acids, they contain both omega-3 and omega-6, which are crucial for maintaining heart health and supporting overall wellness. Consuming these gummies can be an excellent way to complement a balanced diet, ensuring that one gets an adequate intake of these important nutrients that might be lacking in everyday meals.

CBD Gummies

CBD gummies, such as the delta 9 gummies, have gained popularity and are highly regarded for their therapeutic effects. Many users report finding significant relief from chronic pain, stress, and sleep disorders after consuming these gummies.

Their benefits extend beyond that; they’re also being used more to help with symptoms of serious conditions like epilepsy or Parkinson’s. People like the easy, non-invasive way to take CBD in gummies, a top choice for those wanting relief without pharmaceuticals.

Consuming Considerations

How you take your dose can affect how quickly you feel the effects and how long they last. This is where the rubber meets the road… or the gummies meet the teeth!

Hemp Gummies

It’s recommended to take hemp gummies as a long-term supplement. Results can be subtle and cumulative, meaning regular usage can lead to more noticeable benefits over time.

CBD Gummies

CBD gummies, while also being a consumable supplement, are often taken for more immediate relief. They can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to take effect. But they also last for a more extended period compared to other methods, typically 4-6 hours after CBD consumption.

Understanding Cost Factors

When it comes to choosing between hemp and CBD gummies, the cost is a significant factor to consider.

Hemp Gummies

Typically less expensive due to the abundance and legality of hemp seeds. They offer a budget-friendly option for those wanting to incorporate the nutritional benefits of hemp into their diet.

CBD Gummies

Generally pricier, reflecting the more complex extraction process and the therapeutic benefits they provide. Prices can vary widely based on concentration, quality, and brand reputation.

Understand The Difference of Hemp vs CBD Gummies to Choose What’s Right for You

Choosing between hemp vs cbd gummies boils down to personal wellness goals and preferences. Hemp gummies provide a simple, nutritious supplement with the natural properties of hemp seeds. CBD gummies, in contrast, cater to those seeking specific therapeutic effects, such as pain relief or anxiety reduction.

Taste, legality, and cost also play vital roles in deciding which gummy fits your lifestyle. Ultimately, experimenting with both types can provide insights into their distinct advantages. This can guide you to your ideal edible companion in your wellness journey.

In Columbia, Maryland, there’s a former grocery store that has been transformed into a department store for mythical creatures, time travelers, and intergalactic tourists.

It’s called DoodleHATCH.

You can groom a unicorn, visit an intergalactic space station, climb onto a giant’s bed, meet guinea pigs, explore an artist’s studio, and discover approximately a million other things that somebody actually sat down and made.

It’s a nonprofit interactive art museum, a community project, an educational resource, and one of my favorite places I’ve ever discovered.

And it could be demolished as part of a proposed redevelopment of the Long Reach Village Center.

But there’s still an opportunity to help.

You don’t need to donate money. You don’t need to live in Maryland. And you don’t need to know anything about zoning laws.

You can start by writing an email.

🚨 Here's what's happening

Developer Columbia Concepts has proposed redeveloping the Long Reach Village Center in Columbia, Maryland.

The proposal would replace existing buildings with new housing, recreational facilities, and other development.

Unfortunately, that puts a whole collection of existing community resources at risk of being demolished, including:

  • DoodleHATCH Interactive Art Museum
  • Maryland Fashion Institute
  • A makerspace used for community education
  • Local restaurants, shops, and service businesses
  • Early childhood education and community programs
  • A 140-foot-long mural created by approximately 100 community members

This isn’t just about losing a fabulous museum. It’s about losing an entire collection of places that people have built, supported, and relied on.

And there’s another possibility!

🌈 Meet The REALM

Lee Andersen, the founder of DoodleHATCH, and her nonprofit ManneqART want to preserve the existing community resources and transform the village center into an arts and culture destination called The REALM.

Imagine a place where artists have studios, children have room to explore, students can learn creative skills, people can attend performances, and local businesses continue serving their neighbors.

There are plans for a performing arts space, more opportunities for artists, and a Witches Kitchen that might serve you a horrible-disgusting breakfast.

Which, personally, I think sounds promising.

The people behind DoodleHATCH are gathering support to oppose the developer’s zoning proposal and advocate for The REALM.

And they’d love your help.

💌 How to help in about two minutes

If you live in Howard County, Maryland

If you’re 18 or older, DoodleHATCH is asking eligible county residents to visit the museum and sign their petition in person.

📍DoodleHATCH Interactive Art Museum

8775 Cloudleap Court, Unit 101
Columbia, MD 21045

⏱️ Museum hours: Friday–Sunday, 10 AM–5 PM.

And while you’re there, I highly recommend exploring the museum. Bring someone who needs a reminder that being an adult doesn’t mean you have to stop enjoying ridiculous things.

If you don't live in Howard County

You can still help!

I believe communities need places where creativity, imagination, and play are actively encouraged.

DoodleHATCH is an extraordinary example of what can happen when artists and community members are given room to create something that doesn’t fit into an ordinary commercial space.

🐹 Wait. What exactly is DoodleHATCH?

I’m so glad you asked.

DoodleHATCH is an interactive art museum in Columbia, Maryland, created by artist, designer, and professional generator of wildly ambitious ideas, Lee Andersen.

The museum is designed as a pretend department store for mythological creatures, time travelers, and galactic tourists.

There are dozens of installations, and unlike most museums, you’re encouraged to touch things, explore, and participate.

There’s also an artist’s studio full of fabric and handmade garments, workshops, special events, birthday parties, free books, and opportunities for local artists to share their work.

The museum welcomes families and children, but adults are absolutely allowed to enjoy themselves, too.

And the woman behind it has spent decades bringing creativity into the community through fashion, festivals, education, and public art.

I discovered DoodleHATCH in 2020 and loved it so much that I started volunteering.

I’ve been back multiple times, and there are still things I haven’t seen.

That’s part of what makes it special. You can keep discovering things because people keep creating them.

You don't have to live near DoodleHATCH to care about it.

There are Merriment Makers everywhere.

People turning empty buildings into art spaces. People organizing parades. People teaching kids how to sew, paint, dance, or build things. People putting enormous amounts of time into projects that make their communities more interesting.

Sometimes they’re running nonprofits. Sometimes they’re working out of their garages. Sometimes they’re making something weird in a strip mall that you might drive past a hundred times without realizing what’s inside.

I hope you’ll help protect DoodleHATCH.

And I hope you’ll look around your own community, too. Visit the strange little museum. Go to the local art show. Find the person who makes giant puppets or organizes an absurd annual festival. Spend your money at the independent shop with the handmade things.

There are people everywhere creating reasons for us to be curious about being alive.

I’d like them to be able to keep doing that.

Help save DoodleHATCH. Help protect The REALM. Help keep the world interesting.
