#25 on my 100 Ways To Be Creative list is to create your own mandala. I was first introduced to mandalas at work. They’re used in art class a lot for members as well as relaxation trainings for staff. I’ve colored in multiple ones myself, but I’ve never really made one with the focus being symmetry.
In one of my classes last week I taught about mandalas. About how they represent continuity, spirituality, and balance. Everyone received a paper with a pre-drawn circle and a center point. From there everyone was on their own. Some people divided it up into equal triangles like a pizza and made them all different colors. Some people made a symmetrical drawing within the circle. I tried to make the same shapes in each area. I’m a big fan of symmetry, but I’m not really great at being precise. So it was an interesting experience to try to replicate the same design without a measuring tool or straight edge. This is what I came up with. I had fun making these with the members.
Have you ever made your own mandala?
