Hello beautiful. I know we generally had a lot of big energy, motivation, and inspiration going into 2020, and then a lot of shit happened. I was just telling my Uncustomary Babes that whether it’s natural disasters, war, or stuff going on in your personal life, it’s up to us to change things, not a calendar. Yes the idea of a blank slate is amazing and tempting, but it doesn’t create magic on its own. We are the ones in charge of taking action, of making our goals happen, of protesting, of giving back to the environment. January 1st doesn’t deliver your dreams at your doorstep as much as we might like to think it might.

2020 hit hard, and it’s very much okay to retreat to your safe space for your own mental health, but like I wrote about here, remember that not everyone in the world has the privilege of dissociating from reality or going into a fort to escape what’s happening out there in the world or in your mind. That doesn’t mean you can’t do it, but recognize your privilege, have perspective, and still try your best to do what you can to educate yourself and help.

Speaking of which, like many other entrepreneurs, I’m taking this opportunity to donate funds I raise from my e-book sales to the aid for Australia Bushfires. It’s only $5 to purchase, an immediate download, with 30 pep talks that you can binge read or do one a day for a month. They’re all on different topics and have actionable assignments and inspiration for each lesson. If you already have it for yourself, you can give it to a friend. The benefit of doing something like this is that you are getting a product in exchange for your donation, so it’s a bonus. I’d say everyone wins, but not everyone is winning right now. Also, shoutout to the Naked Philanthropist. She’s a damn hero.

I missed doing Weekly Happiness posts recently, so there’s a bit of catch up from Christmas and New Year’s photos and moments, so bare with me! However, one non-holiday related thing that happened very recently that is probably my favorite thing is that my dad got a cat!

Her name is Bella! She is extremely teeny and less than a year old. Very shy but also cuddly. My dad is having a hard time not saying “he” and “Bug”, but he is a creature of habit if there ever was one and I am very happy that there is new love in his home.

Bug is never gone. He is everywhere. He changed my dad forever. And me. And we miss him terribly. But I am so grateful that there is space for a new love in his heart. And I’m so grateful for all of you who sent letters and emails with your sympathies and art. They remain up to this day.

I told my dad he can love and grieve Bug as much as he wants and also love Bella, too. The way he loves me and my brother. Love is an ocean, overflowing, unconditional, and deep.

I’m looking forward to getting to know Bella better. See her picture below!
