Self-Love Prompts is a series I started after creating a list of 50 self-love writing prompts. People like you select a prompt that speaks to them, work on it, and send me their response so I can share it with you guys!z
We’re continuing the series with Danielle. I’m happy to get back to featuring this series by having her respond to the prompt, “I Feel Safe When…” Thanks for participating, Danielle!
I Feel Safe When…
I listen to my intuition. It took me awhile to realize the voice inside of me— that often feels like a rush of adrenaline and anxiety — is my friend, my protector, and my number one fan.
I’d spent most of my life disregarding my inner voice and doubting my reality due to many years of gaslighting in an unconscious and dysfunctional family.
During the beginning of the year I experienced a devastating betrayal. However, the biggest blow was the one I experienced from within; I saw red flags years before, but was talked out of my truth. This breakdown led to my breakthrough in finally creating a relationship with myself and vowing to hold fast to my reality.
Trust your instincts. Intuition doesn’t lie.” – Oprah Winfrey
Even when I didn’t recognize it for its greatness, my instincts still worked for my good. It was the force that gave me the courage to apply for my dream apartment without any credit history and the voice of urgency to ask for help when someone’s presence made me feel uneasy.
As I reflect on the times my intuition encouraged me to go after my wildest dreams and the times it warned me that my worst nightmare was just around the corner, I see it only required me to be still and listen.
I no longer dismiss my inner voice, as I know it has always had my back and will never steer me wrong.
