In lieu of a regular Monday Mailings post, I’m going to share a RAOK project I did this weekend.
I took the cardboard inserts that come with USPS stamp orders and made postcards. They were all either just a giant image or a simple collage. I added labels for writing “to” and “from” addresses, and enough postage to be mailed anywhere in the country.
Now here comes the fun part: I attached a note with instructions.
I wanted the person who found the postcard to send it to someone they knew. Maybe one of the reasons people don’t send that much mail (in general) is because they don’t have the supplies ready or accessible. I figured a fun postcard with postage ready to go left no excuse! I’m really hoping I get at least one e-mail from someone who found them.
The cards that were small enough went in envelopes, and I taped them to mailboxes in the city. The ones that didn’t fit in envelopes went in the free newspaper bins. I hope this entices people to send more beautiful mail!
Would you send a postcard you found like this?
