I had the honor of being in the 50th anniversary B I had the honor of being in the 50th anniversary Baltimore Mayor’s Day Parade!!

I walked with the Baltimore Hons in the 29th spot in line. We were paired up with Be Kind (Eric Miller) - you’ve probably seen the rainbow signs posted around town or me sharing photos of them. And the Hons also now produce Bmore Good News. I was SOOO jazzed and grateful to be grouped with such PERFECTLY aligned partners.

I was SO pumped on adrenaline and joy. I LOVE to see maximalists in action.

All these floats gave me ideas for how to decorate my yard. All these costumes gave me ideas for how to dress. Exaggerated ideas don’t need to be saved for occasions like this!

I truly had no idea how many people would be there and I totally underestimated how many goody bags and bouncy balls I should bring. Next year I will be prepared!!

I wore a sign that said FEEL GOOD TO DO GOOD and my outfit was in theme with the 50th anniversary (gold and white), except I mostly did yellow.

One of my favorite parts was seeing everyone get ready at the beginning. Seeing the inflatables grow with air, small groups practicing their numbers, taping tinsel to cars, finagling cars in order, figuring out how to squeeze mascots in cars. I love that stuff.

I also have to say that I really appreciated that no matter how you feel about the group protesting on The Avenue during the parade, it was peaceful. I didn’t see anyone yelling at them, or a conflict *about* the protest; it was pure coexistence. They are allowed to protest as much as we are allowed to have a parade. I thought it was really cool how everyone handled that.

Thank you again to the Hons for including me!! (And Bonnie for the cover photo.) I hope you enjoy the footage. There was SO much to see!
You know, Cass Eliot had a point when she said, “Make your own kind of music.” 🎶 💃

For me, that means being the bearer of good news and spreading positivity wherever I go.✨

It’s what the Merriment Makers Membership is all about—doing things your way and sprinkling joy wherever you can!💕

I used to think if I didn’t share my personal po I used to think if I didn’t share my personal political opinions on social media I was being a bad person. 🤐

Now I understand it’s a form of seeking validation and narcissism in a way. 🤳

If I want to put my money where my mouth is, I can go to protests, donate money, and be an activist on my own time.

However, the passion I’m here to activate through Merriment Making is about GOOD NEWS, so if I’m sharing news that on the whole feels negative and non-uplifting (AKA doesn’t remind us of our faith in humanity and the beauty in the world), I am out of integrity. 🌍

My silence on social media does not mean violence, because I walk my walk in real life. 👣

Last night I got to attend the world premiere of t Last night I got to attend the world premiere of two short films, with the combined attempt to educate the world about the Inner Harbor *and* Mr. Trash Wheel.

I was invited to walk the blue carpet because I got to be a part of Rivers Are Life’s newest documentary with the Baltimore Hons.

I had *no* idea the Waterfront Partnership Of Baltimore has had the objective for the past 10 years to make the Inner Harbor fishable and swimmable!

At the beginning of the evening, asking me if I would have considered swimming in the harbor next summer was an insane question. Now I can’t wait to!

The first documentary did a great job of summarizing how much work and data has gone into cleaning up the harbor. I knew it was getting cleaner, but I had no idea how or to what degree. I think not being able to see through it, due to the dark nature of an estuary provides an uncertainty.

But due to things like Mr. Trash Wheel, floating wet lands, planting wildlife, magnet fishing, volunteer work, and daily testing for microbe levels we now know the harbor is just as safe to swim in as any other place in the Chesapeake area!

I couldn’t believe it. If you can’t either, I recommend watching the documentary. The facts are undeniable. I’m really grateful for the longevity of the study and the consistency of the work.

I wasn’t expecting to have my mind changed or to be so inspired. You can join in next year to jump in the harbor for the first time in 2024!
