A big part of your wedding planning is going to be building your team of vendors who will support you and help you on your big day. It’s these vendors that will bring your wedding vision to a complete reality, enabling you to be able to get started on your wedding planning in a way that makes you feel confident that your day’s going to go off without a hitch. Who should be on your wedding vendor list and what type of wedding vendors do you really need?
Did you know that the average couple hires 14 vendors for their wedding day? This wedding vendor list that we have for you below is not exhaustive and they are not in any particular order, but they will be able to help you make a list of which vendors you should approach for your day.
- You need a florist. From your bouquets to boutineers, a florist is going to be there for you on your big day. You have to remember that with each vendor, you need to consider your budget before you go ahead and start approaching anybody. And you also need to consider what flowers you want to be fresh and what flowers you want to be fake. Your florist is an essential part of your wedding vendor list and they’re going to bring your colour scheme and your wedding theme into life
- A caterer. You cannot have a successful wedding without a great catering team to feed you and your guests. Your day is going to start with a nervous stomach, but by the end of the night, while you’re partying the best songs on your playlist away, you need to have a caterer there to make sure that everybody is fed and happy. There are many different types of wedding catering, so narrow down the type of catering you want and then make sure you sample 4-5 caterers so that you can choose one that matches your wedding style.
- A DJ. Whether you go with a wedding band or music, there are so many options for your wedding. Music really does set the mood apart and you can have music for when you walk down the aisle, music for photography and low conversation, music during dinner and then afterwards for the party portion of the evening. Some people choose to have a little bit of both, with a live band during the day and then a DJ for the evening, but it’s really going to depend on your budget.
- A videographer. If you have a good photographer working with you, see whether or not they have a videography company that they align themselves with. After the wedding is over, there is every chance you’re going to want to live this day over and over again, so a videographer can make that possible for you. They capture the picture, the movement and the sound to create a film of your wedding day that allows you to go back over again to experience one of the best days of your life.
- A photographer. Off the back of the previous point, if we’re talking videography, we need to be talking photography too. A wedding photographer is going to creatively capture your wedding day in the theme that you want it to be taken in. Are you looking for elegant black and white pictures or do you want candid style photos? Find a photographer that aligns with what you want for your wedding and you’re going to be able to have a partnership made in heaven.
- A venue. You need a venue for all of the vendors that we’re discussing. You need somewhere for them to get together and actually pull your day off. Whether it’s a grand ballroom or a relaxed beach, a rustic barn or a hotel room, you need to be able to get your venue set in stone. Sometimes you can find that venues will offer you a vendor list that they work with already, so you might be able to get everything sorted in one place.
A wedding planner. If the idea of planning your wedding is daunting for you, then think about getting a wedding planner on board to manage it all for you. They should take the top spot of your wedding vendor list because not only can they help you to stay organised and on your budget. They are pros at what they do, which means that any snafus for your big day will be swept under the carpet and you won’t know that anything has gone wrong. It’s less stressful for you and it’s more budget, but it’s worth it.
