I’m so grateful we have more awareness and resou I’m so grateful we have more awareness and resources for mental health — but we need to stop casually tossing around terms like they mean nothing.

Every memory isn’t a flashback.
Every stress isn’t anxiety.
Every sadness isn’t depression.
Every preference isn’t OCD.
Every distraction isn’t ADHD.
Every quirk isn’t autism.
Every mood swing isn’t bipolar.
Every hard experience isn’t trauma.

There are still so many people without access to care. And plenty of disorders that remain deeply stigmatized or misunderstood.

I just saw someone say a rom-com gave them a “flashback to every mean boss they had.” Did it? Or are you recalling an unpleasant memory?

A real flashback isn’t just remembering — it’s reliving. You feel the emotions, the sensations, the fear. Sometimes you dissociate. Sometimes it’s emotional, sometimes physical. But it’s not casual.

Maybe that person *does* have PTSD. Maybe their boss *was* abusive. But more often, these words are used like interchangeable slang — and they’re not.

When I studied psychology, we were warned about “Intern’s Syndrome”—where you learn about a disorder and start thinking you have it. What we’re seeing now is a modern version of that, driven by algorithm-fueled checklists and 10-hour scroll sessions.

I’m not against self-awareness. But believing you have something can reinforce the symptoms. That belief can shape your behavior. It can even create what wasn’t there before.

That’s how identity can form—sometimes around pain.

There’s research on this: Social Contagion. Nosophobia. Self-Fulfilling Prophecies. Suggestibility. Confirmation Bias. Identity Formation.

One 2022 study in the Canadian Journal of Psychiatry found many girls developed tics after watching TikTok creators with Tourette’s.

This isn’t about shaming. It’s about being more careful with our language—especially when that language shapes identity, care, and community.

Identity is fluid. It’s okay to feel like a Hot Dog. A Sunflower. Or both. 🌭🌻

But maybe don’t let the internet tell you you’re ketchup-deficient bipolar without a full evaluation.

You never know when wet cement will find you. My You never know when wet cement will find you.

My life philosophy — in sidewalk form:
💛 Feel Good To Do Good.

Because joy is contagious. Creativity is activism. And sometimes the best canvas is the one you weren’t expecting.

🎨 Guerrilla art, but make it meaningful.

Tag a friend who lives by a motto. Or maybe one who needs a new one. 🛝

🎧 You don’t have to wait for the perfect time 🎧 You don’t have to wait for the perfect time to feel better.

Joy works best in the in-between moments. Like…

🚗 When you’re stuck in traffic
🛒 Wandering the grocery aisles
📓 Journaling what you really feel
🌈 Lying on the floor overwhelmed
🌙 Falling asleep and needing comfort
🎨 Starting something new (but scared)

111 FM was designed for those moments.

Not when you’re perfect. When you’re real.

On a hot summer day in Baltimore, we took over a corner with neon signs, sharpies, and unfiltered joy. Honks, hugs, high-fives, and handwritten weirdness — all in the name of public positivity.

From penguin puns to glittery encouragement, we made our mark one smile at a time. Want to join us in August for our next mission?

This is my favorite photo frame in the whole house This is my favorite photo frame in the whole house.

I spray painted it yellow and glued on everything from googly eyes to neon dolphins, tiny top hats, and glitter pom poms. There’s even a miniature can of soup.

It’s holding a black and white photo of me at 19 — right before I left my mom’s house. Playing dress up with friends. A rare grayscale moment in my rainbow timeline.

My life goal is for *everything I own* to look this campy and kooky.

Chintzy forever. 🧸🍭🪅

They’re the real gifts. 🎁

I was expecting April to just pull up so we could hang out, and instead she texted me, “Come outside with your phone.”

She had a whole rap prepared. In a decorated truck bed.

Dressed for the stage.

All for me.

This is top-tier love language energy — surprise joy, creativity, thoughtfulness, and a dash of chaos. 💛

PS: The truck was also a present… more on that soon.
