I’m teaming up with Betsy, of Craftivsm, to do a collaborative guerrilla art project here in Baltimore– and we want you to participate!
What is it?
We’ll be doing some art abandonment, or a guerrilla art drop, where we leave small pieces of artwork around the city of Baltimore for others to find and enjoy.
How do I participate?
If you’re local, we’d love for you to come meet Betsy and I and install with us on February 7th! You can RSVP for the install event day here. If you’re not able to come to Charm City that day, you can mail us your work (but it needs to arrive before February 4th).
You can mail your pieces to:
PO Box 354
Linthicum Heights, MD 21090
What do I make?
You’re making a sign with an affirmation on it. The sign should be just about the size of your palm (or smaller if you like!) and it should say “You are _____” on the front. Ideas for filling in the blank include “so very beautiful”, “amazing”, “talented”, “adventurous”, “loved”, “rad”, etc. The idea is to be positive and uplifting.
We’re encouraging stitched affirmations, but I’m not in the business of turning away positive art, so all types of mediums are okay– knitting, crochet, paper, mixed media, paper maché, literally whatever you want.
If you would like to tag your social media handle [ex: @uncustomaryart] on the back, that’s okay! Please also write #YASVB on the back somewhere so people can find the project later if they wish.
Please feel free to share this art call with anyone you think might be interested. If you’re interested in hosting a similar event in your city, just e-mail Betsy and she’ll talk you through it.
You can read more about Betsy’s You Are So Very Beautiful project or check out her Instagram.
Yay! Thank you so much, we can’t wait to work with you!
Well, this is a magical coincidence. I’ve been working on a bunch of tiny lettering pieces that would totally work with this project, so I’ll send you a happy stack of them. 🙂
