Uncustomary Art Mailings

Surprisingly, I’m actually pretty caught up with mail right now, and have been for about a month. Check this out: if you do a little bit of something every single day, you end up not getting swamped or overwhelmed with that thing! Can you even believe that? I know. So far I’m pretty sure that logic is flawed somehow. It just seems too simple to be accurate. But yeah, I’m responding to stuff basically as it’s coming in, and it feels really great.

Unsurprisingly, I’m still bad at remembering to take photos of said mail. I get too excited when it comes in my mailbox to remember to set it down to take a photo. It’s more likely I’ll document it before it leaves my house, but that’s really a crap shoot. I’m going to share what I have managed to snap a picture of, but just know it’s only a itty bitty percentage of what’s actually been circulating.

Mail related announcements:

1) Letters To Charles is still happening. He is loving what you’re sending him, and I’m actually going to share a little reaction of him reading Cara‘s postcard, so you can get a better sense of this hilarious ass that we’re dealing with. But yeah, you should definitely write him something. Things are getting weird over here, and he has a lot of ideas for offensive stuff he wants to send out to you poor, innocent lovelies of mine.

2) The Snail Mail Game Show has been reincarnated. Its a no-commitment, super cheap thing (only cost to you is the postage you use to send your submission back to me) that’s really just fun. There’s a bunch more details on the page, but I’ve already gotten a bunch of e-mail sign-ups, and I’m so excited! It’s silly, fun, and you might even win a prize. You only have a few more days to sign up for this round, though, so get on it.

3) My good friend, Olivia, is curating a mail art show in Chicago at Uncle Art Gallery and is looking for submissions! If you feel so inclined, she is accepting all mediums or any size on the theme “mail art” as long as it gets there by May 28th. The artwork will not be returned, but she will be posting photos of everything. Please send to: Olivia Arrow / PO Box 47023 / Chicago, IL 60647

4) I appreciate the participants’ patience from my and Erika’s “What’s Your View?” mail art show. We are almost ready to have the books ready for you to order, so stay tuned! And once the books are available for purchase and everyone makes their decision, the free booklets will be mailed out, too.

And for good measure, I came upon this cute little bit in a stand-up comedy special that I think you fellow mail enthusiasts would enjoy.

Happy Monday, Happy May, Happy Mailings.
