So glad the Snail Mail Game Show is back, and I’m in love with getting such creative piece of art in my PO Box! For Round 13, the participants received a piece of paper with the outline of a pair of glasses and the prompt, “If you could dress yourself up in a custom outfit inspired by a piece of food, what would that outfit look like?”
Artist: April A.
Holy moly, what color! Definitely digging this Troll theme and the cornucopia of fruit in a cupcake shape!
Artist: Brittany K.
Brittany shared that she drew this on her 30th birthday, and if I’m being honest when I made this prompt up I 100% had corn in my head.
Artist: IdaMarie
Ah yes, the famous Unicorn drink from Starbucks! Might as well embody the spirit of something edible AND mythical, right?
Artist: Olivia Arrow
Sushi inspired fashion? Super cute. I wonder if she has an earlier curfew than her fried counterparts.
Artist: Crystal S.
Titled “Squash Blossom”, this is definitely the outfit I’d choose to wear to my next ball.
Artist: Pearl T.
Pretty obsessed with the headwear accompanying this watermelon themed outfit. I wonder if it comes in seedless?
Artist: Jana W.
Jana said her favorite two foods are donuts and waffles, and I think Leslie Knope would approve. Also, isn’t this drawing style just utterly adorable?
Artist: Jennifer N.
What gorgeous detail! I’m super impressed by this ornate outfit, and matching pineapple dog sunglasses accessories to complete the total look. You’re gonna turn heads all the way to wherever you’re going and then some in this ensemble.
And the winner of Round 13 is… Pearl! I will be sending her a prize via snail mail.
There are already people signed up for Round 14! You want in? Get a chance to express yourself creatively and possibly win a prize! Questions for the comments:
1) Which piece from Round 13 is your favorite?
2) What piece of food would most inspire an outfit for you, and what would that look like?
My favorite one is the squash blossom dress. I had a lot of fun participating in this!
So elegant, right? And yay, I’m glad! I hope you’ll keep participating! It’s different every time, and we’d all love to see what you create!
Unicorn of course !!
Of course!
I love the creativity in the Sushi one and the gold overlay doily in the pineapple with matching dog one. They are all so cute. Thank you for picking mine is a winner. Looking forward to what goodies you may send. Heart happy here!!!
Right? The gold overlay is so wonderful, and Olivia does some serious wonders with sea-themed art. She drew me as a combination bird-mermaid like six years ago and it’s never left my altar. So glad you saw that you won! Your package is ready to go out, just gotta get to the post office! Thanks for playing, I hope you’ll sign up for Round 14!
This is so fun! Congrats Pearl!
It’s hard to whittle this down to just one favorite, so can I have two? The squash blossom and pineapple narrowly beat out the others I love. Great group!
Hmm…food I’d like to dress as? Maybe a banana or a slice of cake? 🙂
Banana dress! Yes! I’m really into the idea of a cake slice dress, though. Have you checked out the costumes Studio DIY made for that? Is this how you imagined it?
They are all wonderful!
I would like to participate in the next round, but I’m a little confused… it mentions paying. If I am creating the art and paying to mail it, what else am I paying for?
Hey Mar, good question! So as it says on the sign-up page, you’re paying for a few things. The supplies I use to get things to you (envelopes, stationery, labels, toner), postage on my end, the little gifts I stuff into the envelopes for you guys, and the time/labor it takes me to make the envelopes. It also is a good incentive for people to follow through because when I did the first couple rounds for free, I was sending out loads of materials/paying for postage out of my own pocket and since no one had personally invested anything, they weren’t really motivated to complete the project and send it back to me so then I didn’t even have the content for the blog post. Let me know if you have any more questions!
Yea, these are all so great! Thank you for the compliments, and congrats Pearl! I love the texture of yours and Jennifer N’s. Looking forward to the next round.
Isn’t it amazing when texture comes through in a 2D scan of artwork? Impressive!
