The Geek Bar Pulse is the most popular vaping device on the market today, and the biggest reason for its popularity – aside from the huge selection of Geek Bar flavors – is its wide array of advanced features. Some of those features have since been copied by other vape manufacturers, but one feature that’s still rare is the fact that the device has an on/off switch – which means that you can reset your Geek Bar Pulse when it isn’t behaving normally.

To reset your Geek Bar Pulse, you need to move the switch to the “Close” position – which turns it off – and back to one of the other two positions. When you move the switch out of the “Close” position, the device turns back on.

You’re probably looking for instructions on how to reset a Geek Bar Pulse because you’re trying to troubleshoot an issue.

Resetting your Geek Bar may resolve problems like:

  • The screen is flashing red when you try to vape.
  • The screen is completely dark and doesn’t do anything at all when you try to vape.
  • The device continues to make a hissing sound after you use it.

Along with the Geek Bar Pulse, the Geek Bar Pulse X, Geek Bar Skyview and Geek Bar Digiflavor Sky all have on/off switches.

If turning your Geek Bar Pulse off and back on resolved the problem, you’re all set and can continue enjoying your vaping experience. If it doesn’t resolve the issue, though, where do you go next? That’s what we’re going to focus on in this article. Do you have a problem with your Geek Bar Pulse, and resetting the device didn’t fix it? Here are some things that you can try.

Geek Bar Pulse Flashing Red and Not Hitting

The Geek Bar Pulse’s screen has a colored ring around the edge that can glow or flash red. The red flash sometimes indicates a problem, but it doesn’t always mean something is wrong. So, if resetting your Geek Bar Pulse doesn’t make it stop flashing, it’s either because there’s a more severe issue or because there isn’t a problem at all. Here’s why your Geek Bar Pulse may flash red.

  • The ring around the edge of the screen always glows red when Pulse Mode is enabled. This isn’t an issue.
  • The ring flashes red when the battery is extremely low. This means that you need to charge the battery.
  • The ring will also flash when you trip the device’s cutoff timer by taking an extremely long puff. This also isn’t an issue, and you can avoid it by taking shorter puffs.
  • Lastly, the Geek Bar Pulse can flash red when it encounters a critical issue such as a short circuit, which may happen if the device is dropped on cement or in water. If one of these things has happened, the damage is likely permanent. Since it’s potentially dangerous to use any vaping device with a short circuit, you should turn it off and recycle it.

Geek Bar Pulse Not Hitting and Screen Isn’t Turning On

If your Geek Bar Pulse isn’t hitting and isn’t turning on at all when you puff on it, it means one of three things.

  • It’s turned off. If this is the case, you would have already resolved the issue when you reset your Geek Bar Pulse.
  • It’s damaged. As we explained above, if your Geek Bar Pulse stopped working because you dropped it in water or on a hard surface, the best thing to do is stop trying to use the device and recycle it because if the battery has physical damage, it’s no longer safe to use.
  • The battery is completely dead – so dead that the device is no longer able to display a low battery warning.

If the battery in your Geek Bar Pulse is dead, you should be able to resolve the issue by charging it. When you connect the device to your computer, the screen should light up. If the battery is completely dead, it might take a few minutes. If that doesn’t happen, the battery isn’t charging. Here’s what you should do next.

  • Try charging your Geek Bar Pulse with a different cable. It’s possible that the cable you’re trying to use is old or damaged.
  • Make sure that the Geek Bar Pulse has a clean charging port. Remove lint with a toothpick.
  • Charge the Geek Bar Pulse through your computer’s USB port. An incompatible wall charger can potentially make the battery overheat.

Geek Bar Pulse Keeps Hissing After You Hit It

If your Geek Bar Pulse keeps hissing after you hit it, the puff sensor is stuck. A puff sensor in a vape is typically a moving component with a flexible membrane or spring. Airflow causes the sensor to move, completing a circuit and turning the device on. Puff sensors for vapes generally work very well, but they can get stuck and become unreliable if vape juice gets on them. When the puff sensor sticks, your Geek Bar Pulse will stay on after you puff on it. Since this is a physical issue and isn’t related to the device’s firmware, resetting your Geek Bar usually won’t fix the problem. Here’s what you should do next.

  • Blow very hard through the Geek Bar Pulse’s mouthpiece. This should force the puff sensor back to its original position, which will make the Geek Bar stop hissing.
  • If that doesn’t work, you can also try tapping the Geek Bar against your hand a few times. The gentle agitation might separate the stuck sensor.

A Geek Bar Pulse contains a large amount of e-liquid. Although it’s normally very resistant to leaking, a leak can occur if you’re using too much air pressure when puffing on the device because it causes e-liquid to flood the atomizer coil assembly. With future Geek Bars, you can avoid this problem by puffing more gently. With your present device, though, it’s a good idea to turn it off when you aren’t using it because once the puff sensor is contaminated with vape juice, there’s no way to remove it.
