Get Messy: An Art Journal Challenge 03
Happy Thursday! Time to peek into my art journal…
I used some washi tape you can pick up at Target in the gift wrap section for the page on the left. I pick up a roll every time I’m there. It’s perfect. And in the center is the left side of a postcard that my penpal, Sara, in Switzerland sent me one day. She knows her shit.
I found this image in an old magazine I got from The Book Thing (Baltimore’s free book store). I was in love with complete joy that radiated from this woman’s body, and knew that it had to be included in this theme. Any time you seize up in a fit of laughter, you are partying. That’s just science.
Along the edges of her frame I wrote,
“laugh often, loudly, and with your whole body… every day.”
On the right, I used one of my favorite quotes ever, about not needing a specific time to celebrate. If you want to wear a party dress to get your license renewed, buy yourself a bouquet or balloons, or leave your Christmas tree up all year round, you can. And more importantly, you should.
On the right, I wanted to make a comment about how any time you are happy, you look beautiful. If you’re full of joy, you will make sweatpants look sexy. So when this dog journalist on the red carpet asked this woman who she was wearing, she tells him that she’s wearing hope.
And when in doubt, just party like it’s 1999. The years may change in number, but we will always have time to party.
My apologies for the tardiness of this post. I hurt my legs very badly and have basically been on bed rest! But I love you guys. Make sure you make time for creativity, darlings.
