I told you there was more Halloween Hijinxx with A I told you there was more Halloween Hijinxx with April coming! 💀 So I introduce: Yelling nonsense out the window at strangers with a skeleton. This skeleton has been with me for almost a decade. 🩻 His name was supposed to be Zedd. But I forgot and renamed him Zeke. So he goes by both. Through many moves he has lost some of his limbs, 🦴 so we’ve gotten to play with his backstory ♿ about how he lost his arm and leg in his previous life. 🧟 April and I drove around 🚗 finding people to say silly things 🗣️ to with the Zedd/Zeke out of the window while we were still in our Monster Mash outfits (and playing Halloween music). 🎃 Who says Trick Or Treating is just for kids? 🎃 Who says Trick Or Treating is just for kids? 🎃 🧡 Teenagers Trick or Treating aren’t doing anything wrong. 💚 Someone who isn’t “dressed up all the way” might not be able to afford a costume. 💜 Adults like candy and having fun, too. If you’re giving out FREE candy, why does it matter? 🤷‍♀️ We can’t ❌ teach kids to embrace who they are if we continue to push down our own desires. 🧡 This Halloween, if you want to dress up, do it. 💚 If you want to ask for candy, do it. 💜 f someone “too old” asks for candy, give it. What privileged problems to have. ⚠️ Keep the kids “kids” for as long as possible. 🤸‍♂️ And let adults tap back into being kids as OFTEN as possible. You are not too old to have fun. EVER. 🦦 It’s. 👏 Just. 👏 Candy. 👏 PS - candy applies to ANYthing you give out for free to trick or treaters. Toys, potatoes, money… but don’t you DARE give out raisins. 🚫🍇

Explaining what I do to kids makes me get very cle Explaining what I do to kids makes me get very clear about what I do. Recently, I was at a kids 🎂 birthday party, and they asked me what my job was. I started explaining, and it wasn’t really registering. 🤷‍♀️ I mentioned I have a 📚 book, and they (like adults), perked up 🤩 because they had something tangible to understand. They asked me what the book was about. 🙋 🤔 I thought for a second… When I showed up to the party, 🥳 I came in a costume matching the theme. I walked around participating in all the activities. I talked to the kids like they were adults. 🎈 I made it clear I was up for playing. This was a strong contrast to the majority of the grown ups at the party who were all sitting around talking for hours. 🪑 Which I understand. They’re on 24/7, exhausted, 🥱 and a party is an opportunity for them to rest while their kids run around chaperoned and entertained, while they get a chance to socialize with other parents. All that said, because of how the kids saw me, they kept wanting to play with me. 🤹‍♀️ I came in for some water, 🫗 and one of them ran up to me and said, ❣️ “We need you in the basement!” And I said, “Okay hold on a sec” and she said, “No, we need you NOW!” so I ran downstairs. 🪜 The basement was empty and then all of a sudden a swarm of kids popped out and started nerf blasting me! 🔫 An organized prank they probably wouldn’t have done on another grown up there, but they felt connected to me… 🫶 So I reminded them of what had just happened. And how a lot of the other people were upstairs with all this fun around them and they were kind of sitting around? They nodded. ✔️ I said, “Well, my job is to kind of help adults remember that they can play, too. Kids don’t need to remember how to play. But sometimes adults forget. 🧠 So I try to help them remember how to have fun”. 🕹️ And they nodded sincerely in approval. “That’s really cool.” 😎 And it is.
