Bug has recently taken a fancy to a glittery pink microphone (he’s writing an album), attempted to take a walk, found treasures among my trash, claimed my foot, and shared my love for tutus. I love that little guy.

Happy Candy Cane Day! ❤️🤍 Candy canes originated Happy Candy Cane Day! ❤️🤍 Candy canes originated in Germany in the 1600s as straight sugar sticks that got bent into shepherds crooks because a choir master wanted them to represent the nativity scene and handed them out to the kids during the Christmas church service to keep them quiet. 🤫 They got popular in America in the mid 1800s when a German immigrant brought them over and used them as 🎄 tree decorations! We didn’t get the traditional 🍬 peppermint flavor as the standard until the 1900s. They made a machine in 1921 that could automate the flavor! Candy Cane Day 🗓️ was instituted the day after Christmas as a way to promote using up any leftovers. Now we have so many flavors. It’s the time of year when I look back on gratitude journal entries, photo albums, and memories to write about what I ENJOYED about this year. Even during the years where I have had the worst times, this process has saved me. 🫣 There have been years where I put off the list. Years where I just skipped parts of the process. And years where I convinced myself that I absolutely wouldn’t have been able to come up with anything positive from this year. (But I was wrong.) That’s why I love the method I came up with. It’s not about thinking about the year overall with a yay or nay vibe. ✳️ It’s not about having gratitude for the whole thing or trying to find big moments that stick out to you. Sometimes our minds don’t work that way. Especially when it’s been a more difficult year than others. 🤏 This process gets you to focus in on tinier aspects of your life. Instead of needing to only come up with your five biggest accomplishments, you can focus on your coming up with a list of your favorite movies and TV shows. You’re here to celebrate everything and anything that felt good to you this year. After doing this for a decade, I started teaching people what questions I use to think about at this time of year, and I believe you’ll enjoy going through it. 🤩 What a great way to celebrate this weekend.
