🧠 You have 167,000 thoughts every day. 95% of the 🧠 You have 167,000 thoughts every day.

95% of them are the same as the day before. 💿 Broken BS record. 🤦🏻‍♀️ That's way too many thousands of thoughts to think every day forever.

45% of your behavior (actions!) is based on habits. ⚡️ AKA if you've got a routine, ritual, or something you do as second nature... you're basically 2X as likely to actually follow through with it. 🔁

So. If you're feeling like you're in a rut, stuck, or on autopilot... 🧟‍♀️ let's start with thinking something different. And then doing something different.

But let's break it down. ⤵️

So the thing to think is how you wish you felt. If you're on autopilot and a 🧚‍♀️ fairy godmother came down to grant a wish for how you could feel, what would you choose? 🪄 Alive? Exuberant? Hopeful?

Now that you know it, you have to do something so the fairy godmother actually comes to your house. 🎒

Homework: 🤔 You have to figure out something you can add into your daily and/or weekly routine that will help you feel (or get closer to feeling) like the magic thing you wished for.

📰 If you want to feel hopeful, could you make it a homework assignment to watch inspiring documentaries or only read good news for a week?

💫 If you want to feel alive, could you assign yourself the task of walking in the woods barefoot or looking at the stars? Or driving with your hand out the window?

So the thing we're doing here is 🔹 identifying how we want to feel (think differently) and then 🔹 finding a habit to begin that will help it make that feeling more accessible (act differently).

And as much as it seems like adding a new habit will move you towards just a different KIND of autopilot or rut.. you're right, dude. 🤣 It does. We are in a constant flux of ritual. It's just up to you to decide what habits you participate in.

Like, you know you gotta eat dinner. 🍽️ But you decide what goes on the plate.

So. How are you gonna mix it up? ⤵️

PS - If you're bored, 📧 DM me BORED and I'll send you a random assignment.

I was 4 when I had my first dance recital. 🩰 For I was 4 when I had my first dance recital. 🩰

For ballet, I wore a purple tutu and we were flowers blooming to classical music for the first time in the spring. 🧑‍🩰

🩷🖤 For tap, we danced to the Pink Panther theme song. We had pink and black striped outfits complete with a furry black headband and tail. 🐈‍⬛ (That's why my hair looks like that. It's a headband.)

Inexplicably, in the middle of the tap number, we all did a somersault. 🤸🏻‍♀️ They had these big pads in the middle of the stage that we had to dance around, just so we didn't hurt ourselves during that one move.

Before we got to the somersault, my tail fell off. 😲

I remembered the instructions we had received in dress rehearsal: no matter what happens, keep dancing. The show must go on. 🎭

So I picked up my tail, and I held it to my butt. For the rest of the number. Including when we did the somersault. 💪

After the performance, I ran down the hallway to see my parents. 😆 My dad was smiling so wide, trying not to laugh. I jumped in his arms and yelled, "Did you see me? Did you see me? My tail fell off, but I kept it on!"

He laughed and said he did see and he was very proud of me. Looking back, I can tell that smile was because I was a resilient, weird little girl. That would grow up into a weird, resilient adult. 👯‍♂️

Those pictures were printed on keychains. 🗝️ My mom and grandma had one. On the back of Nannie's (pictured here with me, my Da, and my first dance recital flowers) it said "I love grandma".

When she died, I took it back and now it's on my keychain. 🔑

Most things I do, I do for her. Not my grandma. That little girl in the photo. 🧒🏻

Your tail might fall off. Just keep dancing. 💃🏻
