Update on Orilissa medication & side effects/ endo pain. 💊🏥❤️‍🩹

💛 It causes a LOT of side effects (hot flashes, dehydration, night disturbances, light sensitivity, absence of periods, night sweats, nausea, headaches, bone density loss, itchiness, dizziness, increased libido, constipation — these aren’t potential side effects, these are ones I HAVE), but after trying both ways, it is worth the crazy, awful side effects because even after the surgery and taking the birth control (Slynd) I am still in inexplicable debilitating pain without taking the medicine for 24 hours, and sometimes even with it. I thought I could switch back to the pain, but after 4 days I realized the lesser of the evils was absolutely the side effects. That’s saying something.

💛 I am trying very very hard to keep my business going, stay positive, make art, and contribute to the community, even though the side effects feel like they are eating me alive. One of the side effects resulted in a hospital visit for me on Thanksgiving day, and it was so bad I needed I qualified for one of the reserved saline bags for sepsis patients (but I turned it down; just because you qualify for something doesn’t mean you should take it). (Saline bags are in low supply right now because the factory that makes about 90% of the US’s products was destroyed in the hurricane.)

💛 One of the things that is affecting me a lot is my eyes. I have become hypersensitive to all light (apparently the official name of the side effect is “photophobia”), and being on screens is extremely taxing. It started with fluorescents making me throw up, but now it’s pretty much everything. This is very difficult to navigate because my job pretty much requires them all day. I know the tricks for countering and preventing eye fatigue, it is just exacerbated by this side effect.

💛 Remember everyone is dealing with something different, nothing is how it looks on social media unless they break the “fourth wall” like I am now, and tell you differently, and even then there is probably much more to share.

The amount of times I’ve seen a graphic on socia

The amount of times I’ve seen a graphic on social media or a tote bag that says, “It’s the journey, not the destination” is uncountable at this point.

I have what might seem like a hot take, but I really don’t think it is:

It’s actually the destination.

Not that “You’ll finally be happy when...” you lose X pounds, get a boat, a promotion, married, whatever. Not that.

I mean that this. This is the destination. Right now.
Life. This moment.

🛑 Since I posted that I don’t have cancer, people have been asking me about what it was like to think I was dying, and the truth is I have almost died many times. I just haven’t told you about them. I have used many more than my nine lives. 🐾

I find a lot in common with people with “near death” experiences. This boldness, courage, and understanding of the beauty of impermanence.

💌 A lovely person recently asked me if I would write/speak more about it specifically. Is that something you’d be interested in? Let me know.

Anyway, what I wanted to tell you today is it’s not about the journey, it’s the destination which is RIGHT NOW. So really the journey IS the destination.

What you have is right now ✨ *snaps fingers*. And right now! ✨ *snaps again*.

Do you get me?

These little moments are your life. 💖 Are you being honest? 💖 Are you feeling hopeful? 💖 Are you expressing what’s in your guts? 💖 Are you dancing in your kitchen? 💖 Are you kissing cheeks? 💖 Are you going to bed fulfilled? 💖 Are you making time for yourself?

This is it. This earthly experience in this body as you know it. Maybe there’s something beyond this, who knows! But it’s definitely going to be different. 🌌 So make this count. Stop putting off your life.
