Did you know December 12th is Gingerbread House Day? I’m not a huge fan of gingerbread cookies or anything, but I definitely have a fun time using frosting to stick candy to edible houses! I love the episode of Parks and Recreation where they decide to replicate the office in candy form for Leslie’s Christmas present. It’s so adorable and fun. If you got to build your gingerbread dream, what would that look like? The Eiffel Tower? Your bedroom? I think I’d really like to make a rainbow mural out of candy. That would be pretty cool.

This is a pretty Christmas-y tradition, but I’m of the school of thought where your traditions can be pretty fluid. I absent-mindedly celebrated Christmas for more than two decades without being a practicing Christian because it was a cultural tradition I was brought up with. I think a lot of the traditions are fun. I love twinkle lights and sitting on Santa’s lap. I think you’re allowed to celebrate what feels right for you when it feels right for you. Basically I just want to say just because you’re not planning on celebrating Christmas doesn’t mean you can’t make a dope gingerbread house. Candy is delicious.

Also, has anyone figured out fondant? I can’t do it. It’s too hard and unbending. I never use it when it comes in the kits, even if I want whatever color it is. Frosting just flows out super easy (into my mouth). Happy Gingerbread House Day!
