Baltimore Scarf Abandonment | Uncustomary

We’ve collaborated on yarnbombs before, but this year I want to make sure we’re keeping people warm, too!

There’s a park at the corner of President and Fayette Street where many homeless people sleep. It’s surrounded by a fence, which is a great opportunity for us to tie a bunch of scarves to the posts for people to take!

We’ll be abandoning these scarves on January 14th, which means you have plenty of time to knit, crochet, or even purchase as many scarves as you can!

If you’re local, feel free to save your scarves till the day of the installation. But you can also participate from anywhere in the world! If you’re interested in sending in a scarf (or more!) please mail them to me. (Make sure they get to me by January 10th.)

It would be great if the scarves were handmade, but the overall idea is if someone is cold and needs a scarf, they can get one! So if you have store-bought scarves you aren’t using, or just want to buy a few for this project that’s okay, too!

PS – It would be REALLY great if you could attach a small tag with string to the end of the scarf that says something nice like “Stay warm!” or “You are loved!” Not required, but it would be a beautiful touch.

Please share this event with as many people as you can, both in Baltimore and beyond! Let’s make this huge!
