One of the best parts of street art is interacting with your environment. I really admire artists who are inspired by what already exists and add their own spin to it. It’s not as easy for me to do, so I get excited when I can make a statue a little more fancy.

Francis Scott Key obviously has a big place in Baltimore, so there’s a few memorials to him in our city. One of them is a monument in Eutaw Place. I figured I’d give some love to the unnamed sailor, since he’s not nearly as famous.

If you’re wondering, I did climb up onto the monument in what I assume was an illegal way. But if you’re going to break the law, it might as well be in the name of adding color and fanciness to your city.
